HEART

Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them

one heart to do the commandment of the king

and of the princes, by the word of the Lord.

Meditation:

Am I ready to believe that God can touch the hearts of a whole people

through his Word?

Affirmation:

I trust that the hand of God is guiding world events.

Prayer:

Lord God, thank you for the power of your word to change hearts.

HEART

And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart,

to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and

thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build

the palace for the which I have made provision.

1 Chronicles 29:19

Meditation:

In what way was the work of building the Temple first completed within Solomon?

Affirmation:

I know that all beauty is God's creation.

Prayer:

Praise and glory are yours, O God, for perfecting the heart of Solomon.

HEART

Thou, (Amaziah, King of Judah) hast indeed smitten

Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up ...

2 Kings 14:10

Meditation:

Am I glorying over some victory that tempts me to be prideful?

Affirmation:

I examine my heart to find commonality with all people.

Prayer:

Thank you, God, that you know the prideful nature of your people and have provided

a merciful King to rule over us.

HEART

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart

to judge thy people, that I may discern between good

and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

1 Kings 3:9

Meditation:

What role do I have in relationship to judging good versus evil?

Affirmation:

With God's help I choose life, and not judgement.

Prayer:

Father God, with your help may I stay out of the judgement business and choose

life-enhancing attitudes and actions instead.

SOUL

And David was greatly distressed for the people

spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people

was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters:

but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

1 Samuel 30:6

Meditation:

During times of grief have I turned away from the Good Shepherd?

Affirmation:

King David encouraged himself in the Lord, and so can I.

Prayer:

May I peacefully seek you, Lord Jesus, in times of fear.

MIND

And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall

do according to that which is in mine heart and in my

mind: and I will build him a sure house, and he shall work

before mine anointed for ever.

1 Samuel 2:35

Meditation:

Which of my activities show me that I am more interested in God's mind

than in my own?

Affirmation:

I do my work with God in mind.

Prayer:

May I do all my work with the consciousness of your presence, Lord Jesus,

Holy Spirit, God.

MIND

And if a Levite come from any of thy gates

out of all Israel, where he sojourned,

and come with all the desire of his mind

unto the place which the Lord shall choose;

Then he shall minister in the name of the Lord his God...

Deuteronomy 18:6-7a

Meditation:

Do I feel this place to be of the Lord's choosing?

Affirmation:

The desire of my mind is to serve God where I am, in this day.

Prayer:

I adore your caring for me through time and place, Father God; and setting

me where I can do the most good.
