From the place of his (God's) habitation he
looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all
their works.
Psalms 33:14,15

When are some times that my heart has felt most connected to all the inhabitants of the earth?

All hearts are God's creation.

Lord Jesus, please teach me to respect every creature's heart and so to honor our Creator.

A true witness delivereth souls: but a
deceitful witness speaketh lies.
Proverbs 14:25

When recently have I heard the truth and so experienced a feeling of freedom?

To hear and to speak the truth is vital to me.

Thank you, God, for all of your true witnesses throughout time.

And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin
with their hands, and brought that which they had spun,
both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.
Exodus 35:25

How is the work of my hands connected to the wisdom of my heart?

Today I offer the work of my hands to the glory of God.

My heart sings to you, Father God, for all the beauty you bring forth in every generation.

Therefore let those who suffer according
to the will of God commit their souls to Him
in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
1 Peter 4:19

Let me think of a time recently when doing the right thing for God lessened my physical or emotional pain.

The life of my soul is commitment to God, the Good.

Dear God, may I be firm today in my commitment to you and to your perfect
plan for salvation.

What man is he that feareth the Lord? Him shall
he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul
shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
Psalms 25:12,13

How could God-inspired awe and humility bring more ease to my life?

I rest my soul in humility today.

Your way is the only way for me, Lord Jesus; may I continue to be at ease with you.

He that troubleth his own house shall inherit
the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the
wise of heart.
Proverbs 11:29

In what way have I foolishly troubled my own house lately?

Today I am in service to the wise heart of Jesus Christ.

Lord of my heart, please help me to employ more of your wisdom at home.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, that giveth to all men
liberally, and upbraideth not: and it shall be given him. But let
him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that waivereth is like a
wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that
man think he shall receive any thing from the Lord. A double-minded
man is unstable in all his ways.
James 1:5,6,8

Will I ask for and expect to receive wisdom for today?

I receive wisdom from God today.

I seek your presence, Lord Jesus, and boldly ask for wisdom to live this day
according to God's will for me.

And when they (Paul and Barnabas) had preached the gospel
to that city (Derbe) and had taught many, they returned again
to Lystra (where Paul had been stoned), and to Iconium and Antioch,
Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue
in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the
kingdom of God.
Acts 14:21,22

Let me imagine the characteristics of a life lived with firmness of soul.

It is in relationship with other believers that I find firmness of soul.

For the lives of Paul and Barnabas, and for the lives of all believers, I am truly grateful, Lord. May I continue with inspiration and firmness of soul towards your kingdom today.

And they (the believers) continuing daily with
one accord in the temple, and breaking bread
from house to house, did eat their meat with
gladness and singleness of heart.
Acts 2:46

What is the purpose of my heart when I partake of food with others?

My heart seeks unity with other believers.

May I be forgiven, dear Lord, for times when I selfishly pursue gratification of my own needs, forgetting about others.

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking
the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but
willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind.
1 Peter 5:2

Does my willingness to serve come from an inspired mind or from a feeling of guilt or
a desire for money?

My mind is free and ready to serve God.

Thank you, God, for all people who serve from their freedom and from their love of you.

Werefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am
against your pillows (you mediums) wherewith ye
there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will
tear them from your arms, and will let their souls
go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
Ezekiel 13:20

What do I think about spiritual experiences that are outside of Biblical tradition?

I stay grounded today through the Word of God.

Please increase my understanding, Lord, of your will for me in relation to various popular spiritual practices.

And the angel came unto her (Mary), and said,
Hail, thou art highly favored, the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women. And when she saw
him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast
in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
Luke 1:28,29

Let me imagine Mary in the humility of not knowing.

Today I cherish Mary's beautiful mind.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray to come closer to Mary in the experience of not knowing.

This is a work in progress designed to encourage a personal relationship with the Bible. The work includes daily questions for meditation, affirmations, and prayers, based on scripture verses.
