Numbers 30:2

If a man vow unto the Lord,

or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond;

he shall not break his word, he shall do

according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

Meditation:

Where is my soul bound and why?

Affirmation:

With my word I bind my soul to Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

May my more of my words give you glory, Lord Jesus.

Genesis 30:12

When thou takest the sum of the children

of Israel after their number, then shall they

give every man a ransome for his soul unto the

Lord, when thou numberest them, that there

be no plague among them when thou

numberest them.

Meditation:

What shall I give to the Lord in gratitude for my soul?

Affirmation:

My soul has value to God.

Prayer:

I praise you and thank you Creator God, for the vast numbers of people who

have wanted to give back to you in exchange for the value of their souls.

Genesis 42:21

And they (Jacob's brothers) said one to another,

we are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that

we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us,

and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come

upon us.

Meditation:

When recently have I seen a soul in anguish? How did I respond

and why did I respond that way?

Affirmation:

I am ready with God's help to respond to the pain of others.

Prayer:

Lord God, I pray that you will forgive me for all the times I have refused to hear with

empathy the needs of other people. Please help me to listen with your love.

Genesis 2:7

And the Lord God formed man of the dust

of the ground, and breathed into his

nostrils the breath of life: and man

became a living soul.

Meditation:

In what circumstances do I most often experience myself as a soul, and not

just a personality?

Affirmation:

My breath is from God.

Prayer:

Lord God, I rely on you for inspiration. May I humbly regard your presence

in all souls.

Genesis 27:4,5a

And make me savoury meat, such as I love,

and bring it to me, that I may eat: that my

soul may bless thee before I die. And Rebekah

heard Isaac spake to Esau his son.

Meditation:

How are blessing and eating related in my life?

Affirmation:

Today I seek to bless and to notice how I am blessed.

Prayer:

Creator God, thank you for your plan which works its way out in the

intimacy of families and food.

1 Peter 3:8

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one

of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous...

Meditation:

Will I choose thoughts today that inspire me to courtesy and compassion?

Affirmation:

I surrender my thinking to Christ Jesus.

Prayer:

I praise and adore you God for the love that unifies minds and leads to service.

1 Peter 1:13

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind,

be sober, and hope to the end for the grace

that is to be brought unto you at the

revelation of Christ Jesus.

Meditation:

How will I strengthen my mind today?

Affirmation:

The strength of my mind is grace and hope.

Prayer:

God, Father of my mind, may I be confirmed today in hope and in grace.
